Settling In

Evenings and mornings represent “the gates” to your inner universe. Taking care of how you enter and exit these “gates” is your primary responsibility; do not give away this power. Once you master it, life will never be the same again. ~ Frederick Buechner

How we begin and end our days makes a difference in the way we live the in-between time. Starting off by checking our phones for messages, social media updates, emails, and news is a sure fire way to be stressed out and anxious. Instead, smile, stretch, meditate, breathe deeply, and speak out loud a bit of gratitude for another day of life.

Ease into movements, sounds, smells, and stimulation. Embrace the day with hopefulness and confidence, knowing that you are equipped with everything you need for a wonderful day.

Then, as you prepare to retreat and rest for the evening, consider shutting down the stimulation and screen traffic that has bombarded your day. Leave time for breathing deeply, stretching, quiet time, and maybe even a book. Decompress. Closing out the day with gratitude is the absolute best way to ensure a peaceful sleep and a more rejuvenated brain come morning. Settle in this evening by really allowing the mind, body, and spirit to relax.

Make it a peaceful evening.
