Creative Judgment

We’ve spent so much time judging what other people created that we’ve created very, very little of our own. ~ Chuck Palahniuk

We spend a lot of time looking at other people’s “work” – their pictures, creations, vacations, articles, political banter, family events, music, blogs, and the list goes on. For each piece, we have the opportunity to make a judgment: Like, Love, Laugh, Cry, Angry, Surprised, Disapprove, and THAT list goes on. We are the judges of the work, the judges of the art.

How about creating the work ourselves? Deciding what we want OUR lives to be about and doing something with that decision? Writing, Singing, Dancing, Painting, Sewing, Sculpting, Teaching, Performing, Loving, Helping, Playing, Healing, and the list goes on. If you can imagine it, you can create it.

We can hit buttons all day long. We can talk about other people’s stuff. We can judge. No one really cares what we think, because as soon as the feedback is received it is forgotten. Gone. Wouldn’t you rather make your own art for the sake of the art and share it without expectation? Me, too.

Make it a strong day!
