“Beware the barrenness of a busy life.” ~ Socrates
Two of the most memorable moments in life are holding a newborn baby and saying goodbye to a loved one who has died. Life and death. They are memorable because they are powerful, meaningful, sacred, fleeting, and gripping. Nothing else is important in those moments. And we are still.
When people ask, “How are you?” and you start to say “Busy,” stop yourself. The question is not about doing, it’s about being. We get very used to responding to that question with a new four-letter word (BLEEP!). It means nothing to anyone. Everyone is busy. The question is HOW ARE YOU?
Tired? Lonely? Worried? Frustrated? Determine what “busy” is masking.
Be still long enough to interact with your life. Take one DOING task off the list today and spend time with yourself. Do that long enough, and you might actually discover how you are.
Make it a strong day!
