The smell of homemade chocolate chip cookies is unmistakable. It brings a smile to our face and an involuntary deep inhale of the aroma of love. I often feel badly for my children, because their first question upon smelling chocolate chip cookies in our house is, “Who are these for?” Most often, the cookies are earmarked for a friend or an event leaving only one or two left over for my crew.
Second to the smell of these cookies is the joy of giving them away, knowing that they were baked with love and the intention of improving someone else’s day. Happiness. In a smile, a smell, a taste, and a feeling – one of gratitude for the chance to take delight in such a small thing. The ability to be happy because of a cookie is a wonderful gift! See what little things you can delight in today. Let go of the complicated stuff long enough to appreciate the simplicity of happy moments.
