Being patient does not mean “grin and bear it.” Instead of reacting suddenly, we could chew it, smell it, look at it, and open ourselves to seeing what’s there. ~ Pema Chödrön
I am in a holding pattern…at 840 feet above sea level. For a person who is on the go all day long, waiting feels like constant tension; not having an idea or a creative break-through is excruciating; and there are no decisions to be made when the options are still unclear. UGH!
This is a time for curiosity. Now is when I am supposed to breathe, rethink how I work, and move forward in new ways. It is simply taking WAY longer than I anticipated. And if I were stuck in an airplane, circling, I imagine that I would read, look out the window, or sit back and keep watching my movie. Just because I’m on the ground doesn’t mean I have to behave any differently. Perhaps I could enjoy a book, observe my yard while sitting on the back deck, and even enjoy a funny movie tonight! Those might be the very behaviors to bring about movement, answers, or at least options. Patience, as Pema describes, also takes courage. It’s good to know I’m flexing my courageous muscles!
Make it a strong day!
