Let It Be Light

Rest and self-care are so revolutionary right now. Why? Because we live in a world that says you must prove your worth.” ~ Nakeia Homer

This is a 6-pack of LED chandelier bulbs. It took me nearly 10 minutes and an unreasonable amount of emotional energy to open it.

That seems…excessive.

This weekend was full of “assembly-required” energy: cubby shelves, a new desk, fresh lightbulbs, even new electric outlets. Each task came with directions, parts, delays, and the usual why are there extra screws? moment.

It was productive but not easy.

And here’s what I realized: I’ve had enough hard lately. Not just with projects, but with the background noise of mistrust, fear, and division that seems to permeate everyday life. Even small tasks can feel heavier under the weight of everything else.

So this week, I’m choosing ease.
Not laziness. Not avoidance.
Ease.

That might mean:

🚫 Saying no to the complicated thing, just this once.

☎️ Calling a friend instead of reading another news headline.

🕯️ Sitting in a room with soft lighting and no instructions to follow.

We don’t always get to choose the big stuff. But we can choose to insert more ease into our days – especially when things already feel like a struggle.

This is your permission slip: Make it easier without justification.

Take Action: Find one thing in your life that feels harder than it needs to be and change the plan. Remove a step. Ask for help. Let it go.

Ease reflects insight, not inadequacy.

Make it a strong day!
