Every new adjustment is a crisis in self-esteem. ~ Eric Hoffer
A new adventure – travels to the other side of the world – turned life upside down. Literally! Night was day. Hot was cold. Summer was winter. And it was a new sense of adjustment unlike any previously experienced. It also took a toll on my sense of confidence in my abilities. This shift required a healthy dose of self-compassion.
The body is a perfect gauge for alerting us to what we need in the moment. If our stomach growls, we know we should eat something. If our head hurts, we may require rest. Trusting our bodies means paying attention and acting on those sensations. Too many times we push through the exhaustion, the pain, the dizziness, and buck up. There was no option other than following my instincts during this excursion. And I was rewarded with improved energy, good health, and a heightened sense of appreciation for my surroundings.
Bottom line? We are happier when we respect and listen to our bodies. The better we get at attending to our intuition, the fewer crises we experience in times of adjustment. It is possible. Be kind to yourself and listen to your body today.
Make it a strong day!
