Maybe every once in a while we can take a break from doing everything faster and quicker to reflect on who we are and where we are going. ~ Joe Plumeri
Wow! The day is over. When we start out of the gate deciding to put tasks off for later in the day, later quickly disappears. Does choosing to do less mean slowing down? Does it mean attending to fewer things in a more committed fashion? Or does it mean slacking off?
Slowing down has consequences. It may make us uncomfortable, edgy, even anxious thinking about all the things we aren’t accomplishing. That comes as result of looking over our shoulder and berating ourselves for what we should have done. If we keep our eyes forward, enjoying the pace, then slowing down has benefits. Sleeping in, delaying a workout, or deciding to skip a meeting can help alleviate shoulding on ourselves. It creates an awareness – blowing up the belief that everything in our lives requires all of our attention, all at once, right now. It doesn’t.
Take some time this week to put on the brakes, chew on some new ideas, and play in the pasture. Sun, grass, the warm breeze – it feels good to the body; it clears the mind; and it fuels the spirit! Give yourself permission and be happy about that decision.
Make it a strong day!
