Where’s Your Central Park?

I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it. ~ William Shakespeare

New York City’s Central Park was established over 150 years ago, and was built as a place to get away from the chaos of city life and to improve public health. Over the years, it has required financial investment, time, energy and love to keep it beautiful. New Yorkers and visitors flock to it daily.

While we can’t easily hop over to NYC to decompress in Central Park, we can find our own right where we are. Maybe you have a backyard that is surrounded by trees, or a space with a garden; perhaps you live near a nature trail or a park; greenhouses are another option for surrounding ourselves with living things; or even someplace as simple as the bathtub (add a candle and some peaceful music).

It is possible to create a space for deep breathing, release, and freedom from the heavy burdens of our lives. We must remember what calms us – warmth, green grass, water, aromas of flowers and plants – then create a version of that for ourselves. Make it happen this week – find your Central Park and relax for a bit.

Make it a strong day!
