Tend to the Weeds

Weed

Sweet flowers are slow and weeds make haste. ~William Shakespeare

Like those pesky weeds that tend to pop up at the first sign of Spring, so are the acidic thoughts that seep into our brains without warning. We allow them to take over, to drive our emotions, take charge of our posture, and create such fear about what might happen that we shut down. When we allow ourselves to pay attention to these unhelpful thoughts, we also disengage from life.

INSTEAD, let’s tend to the weeds as soon as they appear. “Ah! I see you. I remember you. And this time, I’ve got it covered. Trust me to take care of what is to come and let’s enjoy this moment right here and now.” One small pluck is a lot easier than dealing with the spread. Gardens cannot flourish with an infestation of weeds – neither can our brains. Let’s tend to those hasty thoughts and snuff them out quickly so we can move on with our day. What a beautiful day it is!

Make it a strong one!
